Volunteers are the Heart of The Partnership for the Homeless

In churches, synagogues, and community centers throughout the city, volunteers help to provide safe, caring shelter to thousands of homeless individuals who might otherwise sleep on the streets.

This past year, more than 9,000 New Yorkers gave more than 350,000-volunteer hours to The Partnership and the homeless men, women, and children we serve.
Assist as a Homeless Shelter Volunteer or in one of our many additional volunteer roles as we work together to end homelessness in New York City. Join our caring community of volunteers and help make a difference.

How Can I Become a Partnership Volunteer?

• Attend an Open House orientation to learn about volunteer opportunities.
  
• All prospective volunteers who have first attended the Open House, especially those interested in working directly with clients, must then attend a Client Service and Shelter Training.
  
• Open House Orientations and Client Service and Shelter Trainings take place regularly during the month from 6:30pm to approximately 8:00pm. They fill up rapidly, so sign up early. Arrive on time--if you are more than 15 minutes late, you cannot complete the training.
  
• You will receive a monthly calendar, via e-mail or snail mail, with upcoming volunteer projects.
  
• You must be 18 or older to volunteer with The Partnership.
