Pick-Up Services and Drop-Off Locations Weekdays, you can bring your donations directly to Furnish a Future’s warehouse in Brooklyn. Please call ahead for directions and to ensure that someone can assist you with your donation. We are located at 476 Jefferson Street (between Cypress and Scott Avenues), Brooklyn, NY 11237. |
You can also take your donations to any Manhattan Mini Storage facility. Many of them are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please visit www.manhattanministorage.com to find a location near you. Minimum Requirements for a Pick-Up If you cannot bring the items to one of our drop-off locations, we can make arrangements to pick up the items you wish to donate. To help offset the cost of trucking, due to increased trucking costs, we ask for a $30 donation which should be paid by credit card prior to the pickup. (Your card will not be charged will not be charged until pickup is complete.). Theres is also a minimum of two pieces of furniture, one of which must be a dresser or a sofa, the two items our clients need the most! If you have the minimum items required to schedule a pick-up, we can take any other items you may have to donate. Scheduling Your Pick-Up Our trucking company has the authority to refuse any donation item that does not meet our specifications. We know that this will be an inconvenience to you, so we rely on you make the correct determination on whether your donation meets our needs. Refusing a donation on-site is also a hardship for Furnish a Future because once a truck is scheduled, we are responsible for the trucking fee--whether or not a furniture donation is made. An empty truck means no furniture for our clients! Please help us provide great furnishings for formerly homeless New Yorkers—and avoid wasted expenses. Due to the high demand for our pick-up services (and limited funding available for truck services), we usually schedule our pick-up appointments two to three weeks in advance. Occasionally, we get late cancellations, and when that happens, we can schedule a pick-up date within a matter of days. However, it’s best to plan ahead! Please call us at 718-875-5353. When we schedule an appointment with you, we’re making a commitment to show up, and collect your donation. If we cannot keep our appointment, we will do our best to give you as much notice as possible, and work with you to schedule another appointment. Three business days prior to your scheduled pick-up date, we will call and give you a four-hour timeframe within which we will arrive to pick up your items. Rescheduling or Canceling a Pick-Up If you need to cancel or reschedule your pick-up appointment, PLEASE give us at least three business days’ notice so we can serve another donor. If you don’t give us enough notice, we not only lose your donation, but we lose valuable trucking dollars and the opportunity to help more families and individuals. Of course, we welcome any donor who can bring the items directly to our warehouse in Brooklyn or you can drop the items off at any Manhattan Mini Storage facility. |
