Emergency Shelter Network:
Outreach & Shelter Programs

The Partnership's Emergency Shelter Network ensures that hundreds of people find a place to sleep in our shelter network every night and receive hot, nutritious meals. Last year, we provided close to 200,000 nights of shelter and 400,000 meals to homeless New Yorkers.

The Partnership for the Homeless operates a network of 107 volunteer-run overnight shelters in churches and synagogues throughout the city. Volunteers work with The Partnership's nutritionist to prepare healthy meals. Most importantly, volunteers talk with shelter guests, listen to them, and spend the night—providing a level of personal interaction seldom seen at large city shelters.

Last year, over 9,000 volunteers donated 353,350 hours to run the shelter network. Why do they do it? To find out what one volunteer has to say, click here.

The Emergency Shelter Network provides rest and safety for people who consider a clean bed, a home-cooked meal, and a few kind words to be luxuries..
